Investment firm Vesper Infrastructure is to acquire French data center firm Thésée DataCenter.
Vesper Next Generation Infrastructure Fund I SCSp announced this week that it has signed a binding agreement to acquire 100 percent of the share capital of Thésée from state-owned French investment group Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations/Banque des Territoires and Groupe IDEC Invest, the real estate investment wing of French engineering firm Groupe IDEC.
Terms of the deal were not shared.
Founded in 2016, Thésée operates two data centers in the Île-de-France region around Paris, with 4.6MW of current operational capacity and secured land for a further 33MW of IT capacity across a total of six buildings at its site in Aubergenville (Yvelines). The first 1,000 sqm (10,763 sq ft) building launched in 2021; the company is reportedly set to launch another phase of the campus soon.
Vesper said the acquisition will allow the data center operator to accelerate its go-to-market strategy and scale up its operations.
Paola Rastelli, founder and partner at Vesper Infrastructure Partners, said: “We are really excited to partner with Thésée’s management to help them develop the critical infrastructure on which the European digital economy relies. There are excellent growth opportunities in the French market with customers expressing an increasing need for more secure and sovereign data storage, which Thésée is exceptionally well-positioned to deliver.”
Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations Banque des Territoires and IDEC first took stakes in Thésée back in 2020.
Antoine Fournier, CEO Thésée, added: “We are glad to be partnering with Vesper Infrastructure a shareholder with a truly industrial mindset and strong operational know-how, which will help us in the deployment of the growth strategy of the Company and the creation of long-term value for our clients, and all of our stakeholders.”
Established in 2023, Vesper is a specialised infrastructure advisor. Its Fund I is a closed-end alternative investment fund based in Luxembourg and managed by FundRock, dedicated to investing in renewable energy, data centers, and other sustainability-centric infrastructure.
