The Women in Estate Agency Community (WiEA) successfully conquered the Lake District Ultra Challenge to raise an astonishing £70,000 for Breast Cancer Now in Sarah Edmundson’s Memory.
The WiEA community is quite rightly bursting with pride following its latest success earlier this month.
No fewer than 70 amazing individuals from across the property industry united to brave the stunning and challenging landscape, ultimately raising welcome funds for charity Breast Cancer Now in memory of their dear friend and board member, Sarah Edmundson who lost her courageous battle with cancer last year.
Organised by Action Challenge, the Lake District Ultra Challenge saw participants tackle either a gruelling 29km 1st Quarter Challenge or a scenic 10km Ambleside Loop.
Setting off from Kendal, adventurers navigated rugged hills, waded through waters, and embraced the elements, all while soaking in the breathtaking views of the Lake District. Each step was a testament to courage, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to a vital cause.
Lucy Noonan, founder of Atomic Consultancy, WiEA board member, and the driving force behind the event’s organisation, described the weekend as “absolutely phenomenal”.
She said: “Seeing 70 amazing people come together, pushing their limits, supporting one another, and doing it all with such spirit for Sarah and Breast Cancer Now, was truly humbling. The Lake District definitely tested us, but the energy, the laughs, and the sheer determination from everyone was incredible. This was more than just a walk; it was a powerful celebration of community, resilience, and Sarah’s inspiring legacy.
“We are so overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who donated – £70,000 is beyond our wildest dreams!”
The funds raised will directly support Breast Cancer Now’s pioneering research and vital support services for people affected by breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and one in seven women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their
lifetime.

Every 10 minutes in the UK one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, and one man is diagnosed every day. If nothing changes, this will rise to one woman every eight minutes by 2040.
Jade Bolton, community fundraiser at Breast Cancer Now, commented: “We want to say a huge thank you to Women in Estate Agency for taking part in the Lake District Ultra Challenge to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Now.
“Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with around 55,000 women and 400 men diagnosed every year. The money raised at this event will help fund our pioneering research and life-changing support for people affected by this devastating disease, which remains as important and urgent as ever.”
The challenge culminated in a joyous celebration at Ambleside, where finishers received medals, commemorative t-shirts, and well-deserved fizz, before gathering at Kendal Rugby Club for a celebratory meal and an evening dedicated to recognising their achievements and
remembering Sarah Edmundson.
A huge well done to all participants for completing the challenge and raising incredible funds for Breast Cancer Now.
