A new Norwegian data center firm is targeting several potential deployments across Finland.
As reported by Pyhajarven Sanomat and Radio Pooki, Norwegian company Arcem is planning a data center in Pyhäjärvi.
Pyhäjärvi is a town and municipality in the south of the Northern Ostrobothnia region.
The company is reportedly planning to develop a site in the 32-hectare Olkkonen industrial area, though full details of the planned scheme are yet to be shared.
On its website, Arcem describes itself as a specialized real estate development company focused on data centers in the Nordic region. The company says it prioritizes securing locations with direct access to these renewable energy sources
Arcem is backed by Norwegian investment company Daymo, its real estate subsidiary Fortigo Properties, and real estate firm Bonum.
The firm has been linked to several other potential developments across Finland, but any details of the number and size of any planned data centers aren’t clear at this point.
The company is potentially planning a development in Rautalampi, a municipality located in the Northern Savonia region. The firm was exploring the possibility of developing on 81,000 sqm (871,876 sq ft).
Another could be in the works in Joroinen, a municipality in the North Savo region.
Arcem has also been reported as exploring a development in the industrial area of Mäntymäki in Kuhmo, a town and municipality in the Kainuu region. The company was exploring the possibility of developing on plots totaling 60,000 sqm (645,834 sq ft).
Reports from earlier this year also suggest the company is exploring a project in the Ruskonselkä district of Oulu, a city in North Ostrobothnia. The company is said to be exploring the development of a 19-hectare plot.
Established operators, including the likes of Verne, Equinix, and atNorth, have a presence in Finland, while new operators such as Polarnode, FCDC, and Hyperco are planning multiple developments across the country.
