Stockholm-based DoldAdress closed a €1.8 million (SEK 20 million) seed round, a significant step for the early-stage startup focused on online anonymity and digital privacy. The round, unusually large for an angel-led investment, was backed by high-profile investors including Magnus Emilson, John Daniels (former head of security at the Swedish Armed Forces), and Anders Holm (former investor on Draknästet), alongside existing backers increasing their stakes. The funding will be used to expand DoldAdress’s product development and support an international rollout of its platform, which offers tools for personal data removal, monitoring, and protection. The company, a part of Alpha Securities AB, is positioning itself within the cybersecurity sector with a focus on individual digital control.
Despite the challenges, DoldAdress was met with overwhelming interest from investors. The round was an unusually large angel round, led by big-name investors such as billionaire Magnus Emilson, and followed by people such as John Daniels (former head of security at the Swedish Armed Forces) and Anders Holm (former dragon at Draknästet). In addition, several of the company’s previous investors stepped in with significantly more than their pro rata share, driven by strong belief in DoldAdress’s potential.
“Raising 20 million in such uncertain times, without having to bring in VC or issue preferred shares, is something we are incredibly proud of. The interest from heavy angels shows the strength of our vision and product,” says Filip Landgren, founder of DoldAdress.
With the capital behind it, DoldAdress plans to accelerate the development of its new services and roll out a global product – giving users control over their anonymity and security online.
“We intended to leave the door open for VC investors as laggards, but thanks to our angels we are already strong. Now the focus is fully on moving forward,” adds Landgren.
DoldAdress has already stirred up controversy and attracted attention from actors who profit from spreading personal data. “We see it as a sign that we are on the right track,” says Landgren.
DoldAdress.se, part of Alpha Securities AB, focuses on building the future of cybersecurity with a special focus on personal privacy online.
