Modular data center operator Secure I.T. Environments (SITE) has replaced four air conditioning units for a Jersey data center.
Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, is a British Crown Dependency. It is located 14 miles off the coast of Normandy, meaning the island is closer to France than the UK.
Details about the data center were not shared by the vendor, but the updates were made in two rooms of a live data center. In the first room, two Edenaire IPAC 70-2 air conditioning units were replaced with GEA Multi-DENCO Energy Efficient DX Freecool units.
In the second, two cooling units were replaced with the GEA Multi-DENCO Energy Efficiency DX indoor unit.
The installation of the new units necessitated changes to the pipework, utilizing two circuits of DX pipework and two circuits of free cooling pipework.
Projects director at Secure I.T. Environments, Chris Wellfair, said: “Projects can be complicated in many ways, and at SITE we’ve managed a number of offshore projects, as well as those in restrictive environments such as hospitals.
“Our team and suppliers worked hard to deliver this project on time and [on] budget, and a critical element of that success is a relentless approach to planning and a close relationship with clients.”
According to Data Center Map, Jersey has five colocation data centers, most of which are operated by the island’s main telco, Jersey Telecom.
SITE has previously completed projects for the British government, including an upgrade to an NHS data center in the Isle of Wight and London’s NHS Royal Free Hospital. It has also provided data center modules for private clients, including Proximity Data Centres.
