North London estate agency Martyn Gerrard has expanded with the acquisition of Islington-based Carlton Estate Agents.

The purchase is the latest move in the agency’s ambitious expansion strategy, which saw the acquisition of Range Homes in Palmers Green in February last year, along with the opening of its latest office in Hampstead.

With the addition of Carlton’s Islington location, Martyn Gerrard now has 15 offices in total across its network of North and North West London offices.

Founded in 1998, Carlton Estate Agents has almost 30 years’ experience serving the community in Islington. The estate agency is based at 320 Upper Street, N1.

Simon Gerrard, chairman, Martyn Gerrard Estate Agents, said:  “I’m delighted to welcome Carlton Estate Agents into the Martyn Gerrard portfolio. We pride ourselves on our people-oriented culture to drive success for our clients, and I’m pleased to see the team at Carlton is perfectly aligned with us on this. We both share an unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and having unparalleled expertise of the local areas we serve.”

Greg Tsuman, director of lettings, Martyn Gerrard Estate Agents, commented: “Carlton’s entry into the Martyn Gerrard fold marks an exciting new chapter in our growth journey as we expand our provision into Islington. We are always seeking quality businesses that align with our principles and want to benefit from the added-value that our deep expertise in the ever-evolving lettings landscape provides. Carlton’s integration strengthens our offering, providing clients with even greater choice of services like market-leading rent and legal protection; and access to exceptional rental opportunities across our expanding network of offices.”

Tim Carlton, Co-Founder, Carlton Estate Agents, described joining Martyn Gerrard as the “natural next step for us”.

He explained: “Their values match perfectly with our own and the strength of our alignment has been felt throughout the acquisition process. Where many transactions are driven by speed, this has been the result of a mutually collaborative effort. Both our teams worked together closely to ensure that the transition reflected the values and priorities of all parties.”

Sara Roveta, co-founder, Carlton Estate Agents, added: “The most important aspect of this deal for me is the opportunities it presents for our clients. Our shared focus on delivering long-term value will see our customers benefit from enhanced expertise, regulatory readiness, and a broader network of support. As specialists in lettings and property management, Martyn Gerrard are exceptionally well-positioned to guide clients through the evolving landscape brought about by the upcoming Renters Reform Bill. Our first commitment is to our customers, so I’m so pleased to be able to offer them this additional level of support and insight at such a critical juncture for their business.”
