Copenhagen-based deep-tech startup Augmented Hearing has secured €3 million in seed funding to scale Sharpi v.1.0, its AI-powered voice isolation software designed for mission-critical communication environments like emergency call centers and air traffic control towers. The round was led by Crowberry Capital, a Nordic VC known for backing bold frontier-tech ventures, with participation from strategically aligned scale investors. The funding will accelerate global deployment of Sharpi, which uses a neural network trained on millions of voice samples to dramatically enhance speech intelligibility in noisy, high-stakes settings. Already active in 112-centers across several European countries, Augmented Hearing plans to extend its footprint and begin laying the groundwork for future expansion into consumer markets such as hearing aids and wearables.
Augmented Hearing is transforming the future of audio communication in mission-critical environments. Founded by industry veterans with backgrounds in Oticon/Demant and deep expertise in AI, psychoacoustics, and software development, the company is pioneering a new category of speech understanding technology. Its flagship product, Sharpi v.1.0, leverages advanced neural networks trained on millions of voice samples to isolate and enhance human speech in chaotic, high-noise environments—such as emergency call centers and air traffic control towers—where clarity is a matter of life and death.
“None of these centers use similar speech enhancement technologies,” said Mette Carstensen, CEO and Co-Founder of Augmented Hearing. “Sharpi 1.0 significantly outperforms alternative solutions. It improves operator focus, reduces cognitive stress, and ultimately helps save lives.”
Currently deployed in emergency response centers across Iceland, Denmark, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland, Sharpi v.1.0 significantly outperforms conventional voice technologies, reducing operator stress, enhancing focus, and improving real-time decision-making.
“Unlike traditional methods, Sharpi v.1.0 has been trained on millions of voice samples, enabling it to isolate and understand human speech in even the most chaotic acoustic environments,” said Martin Bergmann, CTO and Co-Founder. “It’s not just an upgrade—it’s a revolution in voice recognition.”
“This funding marks an exciting next phase in our journey. We aim to become the global standard in critical speech understanding and eventually expand into consumer applications like earbuds and hearing aids. The market potential is enormous, and we’re ready to lead,” Mette Carstensen added. “We’ve built a strong partnership with Crowberry Capital. Their investment comes at a moment – where we believe that we will redefine how AI transforms audio. We’re accelerating commercial execution today, while preparing to raise significant capital within 20 months to scale a category-defining our vision.”
With €3 million in seed funding led by Crowberry Capital and key strategic investors, Augmented Hearing is now scaling internationally while preparing to enter consumer markets such as hearing aids and smart earbuds. The company’s long-term vision is to become the global standard in critical voice AI, redefining how the world hears and responds in high-stakes acoustic scenarios.
“We are incredibly excited about backing Augmented Hearing,” said Hekla Arnardottir, Founding Partner at Crowberry Capital. “With a strong industrial experience from Oticon/Demant the team is able to deliver a mission-critical solution that improves safety and performance in some of the most important communication contexts in the world.”
