Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Samsung Electronics on its €1.5 billion acquisition of Germany-headquartered FläktGroup, a global provider of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) solutions, from funds advised by German-Swedish investment company Triton, which acquired FläktGroup in 2016.
“This transaction underlines our comprehensive, cross-border capabilities in complex transactions in future technologies, which also require extensive regulatory advice to meet the diverse legal requirements of various jurisdictions,” said White & Case partner Tobias Heinrich, who co-led the Firm’s deal team.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and is subject to approval by the relevant authorities. It strengthens Samsung Electronics’ ability meet increased demand for data centers, which require reliable cooling for their operation. In particular, applications for artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous driving, XR and other technologies require a complex data server infrastructure.
Samsung Electronics is part of Korea-headquartered Samsung Group, one of the world’s largest electronics companies and a leading manufacturer of DRAM, NAND flash memory, SSDs, televisions, refrigerators and smartphones.
Germany’s FläktGroup, founded more than 100 years ago, is a leading manufacturers of HVAC systems, employing 3,500 people in 65 countries.
