French multinational telco company, Iliad Group, has signed four Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) across France, Poland, and Italy for 60MW of power.

“With these four new projects, we’re passing another milestone by doubling our number of PPAs. And we’re also demonstrating that the telecoms sector can map out its development sustainably and responsibly, in a way that combines technological progress with environmental stewardship,” Thomas Reynaud, CEO of Illiad, said.

In France, the company signed two PPAs, including its first wind PPA, with renewable developer H2air. The PPA with H2air will see Iliad offtake power from the 22MW Limodores wind farm located between Andelot-Blancheville, Bologne, Rochefort-sur-la-Côte, and Viéville, in the Haute-Marne area.

The wind farm will supply Iliad with around 19GWh of power per year from four of the project’s turbines over a 15-year period and will come into effect from January 1, 2026.

“We’re delighted to have forged this partnership of trust, which is fully in line with our strategy of directly selling renewable electricity to consumers,” said Roy Mahfouz, chair and founder of H2air.

Also in France, Iliad signed a PPA with French electricity provider Arkolia for 18.1MW of power from a solar farm near Bordeaux in the Gironde region. The PPA will last 15 years and come into effect from January 1, 2027.

The solar farm is expected to generate around 22.8GWh per year, and will be a greenfield development on non-agricultural land. The project is currently under development, with the construction phase expected to be completed during the fall/winter period to avoid damaging the local environment.

In Poland, Iliad’s Polish subsidiary, Play, signed a PPA with R.Power for 18MW of power from a solar farm in Kaczory, in the Greater Poland region. The agreement, which will commence from January 1, 2026, will see R.Power supply Play with 20GWh of energy per year.

“Through this PPA, we are not only securing stable supplies of green energy for a key player in the telecommunications market, but also supporting the large-scale development of solar power in Poland,” said Rafał Hajduk, chief commercial officer at R.Power.

The agreement is the second between the two companies, following a PPA signed in February. The 11-year agreement will see Play offtake 240GWh of power over the contracted period, generated from R.Powers’ 18MW solar portfolio in Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, in the west-central region of Poland.

Finally, in Italy, Iliad Italia signed a ten-year PPA with METLEN Energy & Metals, a Greek energy and metals firm. Under the terms of the PPA, Iliad Italia will purchase 15.2MW of power from a solar farm in Gionco in the Lazio region of Italy.

The solar farm will generate 20GWh of power per year, with the PPA set to come into effect by January 1, 2026.

“This PPA with Iliad Italia is a key operation for our Italian portfolio and serves as a model for future business partnerships aimed at supporting Italy’s energy transition,” said Nikos Papapetrou, executive director of M Renewables at METLEN.

Following this PPA, Iliad Italia has now procured 68GWh of annual renewable capacity in the Italian market, following a PPA last year with Statkraft for 27.9MW of power.

In total, the group has secured eight PPAs across the French, Italian, and Polish markets. Combined, the PPAs amount to 219GWh per annum covering 166.2MW of renewable energy assets.

Last year, the company signed a 15-year deal with Engie for 25.6MW of power from a solar farm in Sainte-Gemme in France, which came into effect in April.
