Isabelle Gallo, one of the managing partners of Sistafund, the Paris-based VC that backs female founders and gender-diverse teams, has left the firm after nearly two years.
On Friday, French newspaper Les Echos reported Gallo was departing the firm Sistafund founder and general manager Tatiana Jama confirmed to Sifted that Gallo was leaving. Gallo declined to comment.
Jama launched Sistafund in 2022 with the goal of tackling the funding gap for women in Europe. The firm backs startups with at least one female founder and at least 30% of the cap table owned by women.
Les Echos reported tensions had risen between Jama and Gallo, which caused the firm to pause its investments. These will resume once the conflict is resolved, according to Les Echos. Jama declined to comment.
Sistafund launched a €100m fund in 2022, of which it has raised €70m to date. Late last year, it announced a €30m investment from the European Investment Fund (EIF).
The firm invests in pre-seed to Series A rounds, and has backed high-profile companies including the buzzy spacetech startup The Exploration Company. Gallo joined Sistafund in 2023 after seven years at Paris-based early-stage VC Breega.
Other LPs include BNP Paribas and l’Oréal, as well as a number of French founders, such as Leetchi’s Céline Lazorthes, Qonto’s Steve Anavi, La Redoute’s Nathalie Balla, Mirakl’s Adrien Nussenbaum and 360Learning’s Nicolas Hernandez.
“With €70m under management, we have crossed a key milestone and are aiming for a final close in September,” Jama said. “Isabelle Gallo is leaving the team after having contributed to the first steps of the project. We are continuing to build Sistafund with reinforced rigor and ambition.”
