The performance of 16 private capital firms stock that BeBeez and eToro monitor on Trading Floor improved in the last two weeks (see here a previous post by BeBeez).
Since many firms will present their 2025 quarterly results in May, the rebound seems a consequence of Donald Trump’s Administration announcement on 9 April, Wednesday, about a partial 90-days suspension of custom duties on imported items. China has still to pay tariffs on US trade, but not on tech devices.
NYSE-listed private equity Ares Management increased its market capitalization by 16.7% after having experienced losses of 25% after Trump’s tariffs announcement. The company’s share price fell significantly below its NAV and despite the recovery at the end of the week it still trades below fair value. However, the stock boasts solid fundamentals, including an ebitda margin of 44% and dividend growth of 45% in 2024.
NYSE-listed Apollo Global Management’s share price increased by 15.9%. In the last five years, the company’s stock performance has been above 260%.
The share price of Frankfurt-listed Mutares rose by 10.4% given the firm’s solid fundamentals and the benefit it could gain out of Rearm Europe programme which could give a boost to Austrian defence group Steyr, a portfolio company of the German fund. Mutares reportedly decided to sell 19.2% of the Frankfurt-listed asset whose share price tripled since January 2025.
The market capitalization of London-listed private capital firm Bridgepoint decreased by 14.4%. However, the financial company has a return on equity of 7.2%, a dividend yield of 3.3% and a payout ratio of 140%. Last week massive volume of sales of Bridgepoint shares (20 times the long-term average) could be a consequence of a sudden readjustment of portfolios, of market participants that decide to allocate resources on overseas managers.
