Data center firm Yondr Group has launched another facility in Slough, UK.
The DigitalBridge-owned company this week announced it has launched the first 10MW phase of its second data center at its London campus.
The facility, Yondr’s second of three at the 100MW campus, will offer 30MW at full build-out. The latest building features solar PV panels on the roof and a green wall on the southern facade.
Peter Hill, VP of design & construction EMEA at Yondr, said: “Our London campus is being delivered at pace and to a very high standard of reliability, resilience, and sustainability. It fulfills our commitment to meeting our client’s requirements while strengthening Slough’s position as a key global hub for data center capacity.”
He added: “Achieving the first RFS phase on the second facility marks another major milestone for our London campus, as we transform a derelict manufacturing site into a state-of-the-art data center that will support the urgent global need for data capacity, and the UK’s ambitions as a leader in digital industries.”
Located on the site of a former paint factory, Yondr said the project has involved “extensive” ground remediation works to remove lead and chemicals.
The company first announced plans for the campus in November 2021, with the first facility launched in June 2024. Yondr secured planning permission for the third facility in August last year and broke ground in February.
Slough is one of the main data center hubs in the UK, with CyrusOne, NTT, Equinix, and Kao all having a presence there. It has continued to see development with Iron Mountain and Digital Realty both planning facilities in the area.
Yondr is a developer, owner, and operator of data centers. The company currently has a contracted capacity of 878MW, with more than 58MW operational. The company has projects in Virginia, Canada, the UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, and India.
Headquartered in London, it was previously owned by single-family investment office Cathexis, Apollo Global Management, and Mubadala. October 2024 saw DigitalBridge announce it would acquire Yondr, though terms weren’t disclosed.
