Gary Barker and Rob Barnett join Bamboo

Bamboo Auctions, the online property auction technology specialists, has appointed proptech and fintech heavyweights Gary Barker and Rob Barnett to its board.
Bamboo Auctions currently provides an online auction platform to more than 1,100 estate agents and auctioneers across the UK. Using the platform, estate agents can control, list, and manage their own online auction service adding significant value to their customer proposition and income streams. To date, agents have sold close to £1bn worth of properties using the Bamboo platform.
Barker is a well-known industry expert with over 20 years’ experience in property technology. He was former CEO at Reapit former CTO at Countrywide, a former NED at proptech firms, Nurtur, COHO and ViewMyChain as well as CEO at South African proptech business, Betterhome
Barker said: “I’m joining Bamboo at a significant time as the business moves into its next stage of growth. The team has done a great job building the foundations of a highly innovative and successful technology business, with an impressive stable of highly reputable customers, and I look forward to working with Robin and rest of the board to capitalise on this established success.”

Barnett is a highly experienced fintech specialist who has spent much of his career working in large international businesses including Friendslife, Kingfisher, RBS Insurance, Direct Line, and more recently NED at ContentCal and Chairman at Detected.
Together with CEO, Robin Rathore and chairman, Nicholas Leeming, Barker Rob Barnett will help advise and guide Bamboo Auctions’ strategic direction as it seeks to increase market share.

Rightmove appoints Amanda James

Rightmove has announced the appointment of Amanda James as non-executive director and chair of the Audit Committee and the retirement of Andrew Findlay from the Board of Directors.
James will be appointed as an independent non-executive director and member of each of the Audit, Nomination and Corporate Social Responsibility Committees, at the conclusion of the AGM on 9th May 2025. She will be appointed Audit Committee chair on 1 June 2025.
Andrew Findlay will step down as a non-executive director and audit committee chair with effect from 1 June 2025 following a short handover period with James.
James, who is also an independent non-executive director and chair of the Audit Committee at Auto Trader Group, has an extensive background in finance, having served as chief financial officer and as an executive director at Next from April 2015 to July 2024.

Daniel Baynham lands senior position at SOWN’s Manchester office

Daniel Baynham has joined the team at SOWN (Shared Ownership sales specialist) and will be heading up the team in the central Manchester office. His role will also cover the sales of outright new homes under the Leaders new homes brand in the Northwest.
SOWN works for developers and housing providers across the country, specialising in selling both new-build and re-sale properties.
In his new role, Baynham will be responsible for overseeing shared ownership and open market sales for some of the UK’s largest housing providers.
Baynham joined Leaders Romans Group in 2018. Initially a lettings negotiator in the Warrington Branch of Leaders estate agents, he rose up through the ranks, most recently managing Leaders’ Liverpool office. He has recently received two awards: Branch of the Year and Manager of the Year at Leaders Romans Group’s annual awards.
Baynham commented: “Like the rest of the UK, the north is seeing a growing demand for affordable and flexible housing solutions, making Shared Ownership a vital tool in helping people achieve their dream of homeownership.
