MED III purchased the asset
Consillium, the family office of Tomáš Němec sold BioVendor Group, a Czech Republic advanced diagnostic company , to Archimed, a private equity with a focus on healthcare (press release of Archimed and of BioVendor). The buyer’s fund MED III carried on the buy. Michal Kostka will keep his ceo role with the other managers.
Consillium acquired the business in 2017 (see here Biovendor milestones). Czech businessman Němec founded CGS, the world’s second largest manufacturer of off-road tyres that sold in 2015 to Sweden’s competitor Trelleborg for an equity value of 10.9 billion of Swedish Crowns (in the region of 1.2 billion euros) (press release). With such resources he created his family office for investing in private markets.
BioVendor was born in 1992 and has sites in Austria, Belgium, Spain, Slovak, and Czech Republic. Biochemical immunochemical tests reveal the presence and concentration of molecules used to diagnose diseases, based on the interactions of antibodies with the corresponding antigens. These exams allow for early and accurate diagnosis and enable effective treatment plans, better patient management and improved outcomes.
In 2019, the Diagnostics team of Archimed already identified BioVendor as a category leader through the fund’s proprietary origination tools set MedDiscover.
Archimed previously invested in other diagnostic firms such as Italy’s Diesse which generated a 4.6X return on invested capital after its late January 2025 sale to Fremman Capital (see here a previous post by BeBeez). In 2022, the fund fetched 6X the invested capital out of the exit from Eurolyser that Antech Diagnostics, part of Mars Veterinary Health, acquired (press release). SeqCenter and Zytomics are still in the portfolio of Archimed.
In 2021, MED III attracted 650 million euros in commitments and invested little less than half of this amount in primary deals. MED III targets companies with a capitalization of 50 – 150 million. Archimed has offices in Europe, North America and Asia and manages 8 billion with its funds.
