AI cloud provider Ori’s UK GPU deployment is in Kao Data’s facility in Harlow, DCD can reveal.
The company said that it would deploy Nvidia H200 GPUs in the UK late last year, but did not disclose which data center provider it would use.
“We are delighted to partner with Kao Data for our UK expansion, and its Harlow campus offers us the perfect mix of high-density data center infrastructure, renewable energy, and close proximity to London and Cambridge’s thriving AI and tech ecosystems,” said Mahdi Yahya, founder & CEO of Ori.
“As demand for AI continues to surge, it was imperative to find a specialist data center operator that understood AI and could support the scalability, performance, and sustainability requirements of our GPU-powered cloud.”
Spencer Lamb, chief commercial officer at Kao Data, added: “Ori’s decision to host their AI cloud infrastructure at our Harlow campus underscores our reputation as the key destination for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) deployments in the UK.
“Our partnership illustrates the continued need for the country to be investing in, supporting and hosting AI architectures, and showcases how the UK can continue to be a leader in the AI race by attracting and working with innovative, world-class startups.”
Unveiled back in November 2023, the H200 GPUs are built on Nvidia’s Enhanced Hopper architecture, offer 141GB HBM3e, and 67 teraflops at FP64 and 1,979 teraflops at FP1. The GPUs are notably better at dealing with AI training and inference tasks than the predecessor H100s, with almost double the memory capacity.
London-based Ori has previously announced deals with data center providers EdgeConneX in Europe and Centersquare in the US. It offers services from 20 locations globally.
Kao Data is also home to a supercomputer operated by Nvidia, as well as an Arm data center, and several banking customers.
