In December 2024, Stoneweg acquired Cromwell Property Group’s European platform for funds management
Stoneweg Group, a Swiss alternative asset manager that belongs to Icona Capital, completed the acquisition of MC Property, a paneuropean real estate investor that managing partner Mark McLaughlin founded inMay 2024 with the partners Rob Cotterell, Wouter Zwetsloot, and Martin Hanratty. The managers will join the buyer with different roles (see here the press release).

MC Property’s core focus is on opprtunistic and added value investments in the UK, The Netheralnds and Germany for the industrial, offices and infrastructures sector. The cmpany’s founders previously worked for Cromwell Property Group and its subsidiary Valad Europe, an asset that Blackstone Real Estate sold in 2015 (see here the press release).
In mid-2024, MC Property started to provide the teams of Stoneweg and Icona Capital with strategic consultancy support for the acquisition and integration of Cromwell Property Group and their coinvestments that included a 27.8% of Cromwell European REIT and amounted to assets under management of 3.9 billion euros. The deal closed in December 2024 for 280 million and Stoneweg’s assets under management amounted to 8 billion (see here the press release).
McLaughlin said: “Joining forces with the Stoneweg and Icona teams is an exciting milestone for us. We have developed a strong relationship with them and look forward to leveraging our collective experience to create long-term value for investors and stakeholders”.

In January 2025, Stoneweg said it acquired the majority of Fundim, a Swiss manager of real estate funds that has a focus on collective investment vehicles focused on sustainable residential developments (see here the press release).
