Barcelona-based RepScan, a startup focused on the removal of negative online content (fake news, identity theft, cyberbullying, fake profiles, photos, videos, false reviews, etc.), has successfully closed a Series A funding round of €3 million.
The round included participation from the following investment funds: Swanlaab Venture Factory, Bonsai Partners, Pinama Capital 23, Boyser, and prominent Business Angels, such as Oriol Carulla and Josep María Frigola. The round was coordinated by Raúl Costa from Rote Capital.
Josep Coll Rodriguez, Co-founder and president of RepScan, said: “In a complex economic and political climate, RepScan has demonstrated its strength by securing a significant investment round. The development of technology requires both private and public support for our country to become a leader and reference in global innovation. At RepScan, we have secured this funding with the goal of defending the digital rights of individuals and businesses and launching our solution globally for the self-management of harmful online content removal, RepScan 2.0.
“We want it to become an essential tool for communication and advertising agencies, large corporations, law firms, schools, sports organisations, and public administrations, enabling them to legally remove fake news, cyberbullying cases, leaked personal data, false reviews, photos, videos, fake profiles, and identity theft. We aim to change the rules of an internet that, today, is a jungle, democratising the swift removal of harmful online content.”
Founded in 2019 by Alejandro Castellano, Coque Moreno, and Josep Coll Rodriguez, RepScan is dedicated to helping individuals and businesses manage and protect their online reputation. They specialise in detecting and removing negative or harmful content from the internet, such as fake news, identity theft, cyberbullying, and unauthorized photos or videos. RepScan offers services including real-time monitoring, automated content removal, and digital reputation enhancement.
Their goal is to empower clients to control their digital footprint and maintain a positive online presence.
This capital injection will allow the company to commercialise its new self-management tool for digital negative reputation, RepScan 2.0 , which will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on the 6th of March.
Furthermore, part of the funds will be allocated to strengthening the company’s 24/7 urgent negative content removal service, further establishing RepScan as the leading defender of digital rights for individuals and businesses.
RepScan already boasts an international reach, having successfully removed more than 40,000 pieces of content from the internet for over 1,600 clients across 62 countries.
With this new version, RepScan strengthens its positioning as an advanced B2B SaaS solution, providing tools for digital reputation self-management.
RepScan 2.0 offers:
- Quick setup: Allows clients to define the keywords and brands they wish to monitor from their dashboard.
- Smart scanning: Provides real-time monitoring of Google and social media content.
- Fast removal and mitigation: Enables the automated request for negative content removal to minimise its impact on digital reputation.
- Detailed reports: Offers real-time metrics and generates comprehensive reports for agents to inform their clients.
Mark Kavelaars, founding partner of Swanlaab Venture Factory, highlighted: “At Swanlaab, we believe in technology as a driving force to solve the great challenges of the digital era. RepScan democratises digital reputation protection with an innovative and highly scalable solution. We are delighted to support its growth and expansion.”
Nacho Alonso, president of Pinama Capital 23, added: “At PINAMA CAPITAL, we continue to invest in the best opportunities and support exceptional entrepreneurs. RepScan, led by Josep Coll, embodies both qualities, which is why we have invested in this round alongside other leading funds. RepScan’s proposition effectively addresses an increasingly critical need: digital reputation management“.
The second version of RepScan Mobile is now available for businesses seeking active protection for their online reputation or that of their clients.
