Cycloid, a Paris-based innovator in sustainable platform engineering, has raised €5 million Series A financing to capture global demand for its offering by cementing its presence in Europe and expanding across North America.
The round was led by Reflexion Capital with participation from five French angel investors, bringing total funding to €8 million.
“Self-service IT is about centralizing access to apps, automation, deployment, documentations, cloud, security, FinOps and GreenOps simply and comprehensively, but portals can take teams years to deliver, and maintenance is complicated and resource intensive,” explains Founder Benjamin Brial.
“In response, our platform brings the ability to create a portal that is up and running in just a few weeks, making infrastructure, tools, and automation accessible to as many people as possible without the requirement to become a DevOps or Cloud expert. We are delighted today to announce this new round of funding, which confirms the relevance of our mission and our approach to transforming the more sustainable long-term use of cloud and DevOps practices,” he adds.
Founded in 2015 by former Red Hat Cloud executive, Benjamin Brial, Cycloid’s focus is on sustainable platform engineering with a mission to deliver change through the smarter, more efficient use of resources and the ability to establish a culture of digital sobriety—both financial and environmental.
Thanks to its platform and self-service portal, Cycloid simplifies collaboration among IT teams and promotes responsible practices such as GreenOps and FinOps.
Its portal optimises the integration of platform engineering practices to alleviate the cognitive load on IT teams through the creation of reusable developer self-service flows that abstract away complex DevOps processes.
According to Cycloid, platform engineering is a movement that addresses growing multicloud complexity and the need for organisation-wide scalability, self-service and automation capabilities by enabling development teams to build internal platforms that deliver a frictionless developer experience with minimum overhead.
The challenge, according to the State of DevOps 2024, is that it takes a team of 20 people and just over 3 years to develop a portal that effectively delivers these benefits for an organisation.
With embedded cloud cost and carbon footprint tools embedded within the platform, Cycloid looks to deliver a holistic view of cloud consumption and automation processes across multiple cloud environments.
Following an initial round of €3 million in 2020, the new Series A funding will be used to strengthen the company’s position in Europe, in addition to supporting its expansion into North America.
The company currently has around 25 employees located across Europe and North America, and counts major organizations such as CMA-CGM, Alchemy, Amenetiz and Warner Bros as customers, in addition to partnering with systems integrators/ managed service providers such as Accenture, Capgemini, Orange Business, Sopra Steria, and Teamwork Arrow.
Cycloid also recently signed a strategic partnership with cloudXcelerate, the DACH-based services provider to bring its platform to businesses challenged with cloud migration problems in the region.
