Logically, the British fact-checking startup, has laid off dozens of employees as part of a company-wide effort to cut costs.
Founded in 2017 in West Yorkshire, Logically rose to prominence in tandem with concerns over misinformation, winning multi-million pound government contracts to help combat the spread of conspiracy theories and bogus health advice online.
The company, which has operations in the UK, US and India, announced layoffs earlier this month, resulting in around 40 employees — or a fifth of the company’s once 200-strong headcount — being made redundant, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
“At Logically, we continuously assess our business to ensure we are best positioned for long-term success in delivering on our mission to combat threats online,” a company spokesperson told Sifted.
“With recent new additions to our C-suite and a transition to being a more product-led business, we have reflected on our company strategy, needs and organisational structure, and made the decision to streamline our operations.
“This decision was not taken lightly and we are deeply grateful for the contributions of our departing colleagues.”
