Barcelona-based Exoticca, a TravelTech startup specialising in the digitalisation of long-haul, multi-destination trips, has secured €25 million in funding from BBVA Spark, the division of BBVA focused on supporting high-growth startups.
This financing follows the company’s recent €60 million Series D round led by Quadrille Capital, bringing the total raised in this funding round to an €85 million.
“This additional funding from BBVA Spark provides us with even more flexibility to continue innovating our business model and expanding our international presence, particularly in key markets like North America, where we already generate over 75% of our business,” said Pere Vallès, CEO of Exoticca.
Founded in 2014 by Jesus Rodriguez Fernandez and Marti Guasch Mercade, Exoticca is a travel booking agency that employs over 400 “travel experts”.
With this strategic funding, Exoticca is reinforcing its mission to redefine how complex, long-distance travel is booked, planned, and experienced, as well as accelerating its international expansion into key markets.
The investment will also be used to deepen the company’s commitment to AI-driven technology, further enhancing its ability to streamline travel planning and improve the customer experience.
The startup’s AI-powered platform plays a critical role in automating key processes, including connecting multiple travel components, personalising recommendations based on user preferences, optimising pricing strategies, and simplifying the creation of complex itineraries.
By leveraging machine learning and advanced automation, Exoticca aims to offer a more seamless and intuitive experience for travelers, reducing the complexity of booking multi-stop trips while ensuring competitive pricing, optimised routes, and tailored recommendations.
In addition to improving the end-user experience, these innovations will also enhance Exoticca’s relationships with its global network of travel providers, creating a more efficient and scalable ecosystem that aims to benefit both travellers and industry partners.
The company has set its sights on becoming a global leader in “connected trips”, a concept that refers to synchronising multiple travel services and destinations into a unified, digitally optimised experience. As Exoticca scales its operations, it aims to consolidate its position as a pioneering force in the digital transformation of long-haul travel, a market that moves over €100 billion annually – according to Exoticca.
“Exoticca was born with the mission of revolutionising the long-haul travel sector that requires connecting multiple locations and services, digitalizing a category that has historically relied on physical channels and manual processes,” added Vallès.
This funding marks another milestone in Exoticca’s rapid growth trajectory, reinforcing its commitment to technology, automation, and user-centric travel experiences.
