Amazon has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with JSW Energy for 180MW of wind power in India.
Details on the PPA's length and the project it is tied to were not disclosed.
JSW now has 4GW of renewable energy capacity tied to long-term energy supply agreements. The company’s customers include Amazon, DCM Shriram, and Indus Towers.
Founded in 1994, JSW is an Indian power generation and transmission firm. It has 8.2GW of operational generation capacity across its fossil fuel, hydropower, and renewable energy assets. It aims to reach 20GW of total generation capacity by 2030.
This is Amazon's third PPA in India in a matter of days. Earlier this week, it signed two PPAs with CleanMax and BluPine Energy for a combined 199MW across two onshore wind projects.
The CleanMax PPA will support the development of an onshore wind farm in Koppal, Karnataka. The project is expected to become operational in Q2 2026.
The BluPine PPA is tied to an unnamed wind project and will supply Amazon with 360GWh energy annually.
Amazon has signed nine PPAs so far this year. Earlier this week, it signed a PPA with Italian energy firm ERG Group, which will supply Amazon with 2.5TWh of power over the contracted agreement.
Before this, it signed three PPAs with Spanish utility Iberdrola for 476MW of power in the Spanish and Portuguese markets. The PPAs include Amazon's first in the Portuguese market, where the hyperscaler signed on to procure 219MW of power from the 274MW Tâmega Wind Complex.
Finally, in January, it secured two solar PPAs in Japan with EDP Renewables and X-Elio. The PPAs will supply Amazon with energy from two solar plants with a combined capacity of 58MW.
In January, the company also claimed the title of the largest corporate buyer of renewables for the fifth year running, citing data compiled by BloombergNEF.
