Oslo-based startup Tana has raised €13.6 million in Series A funding, bringing its total to €24.3 million. The round, led by Tola Capital and joined by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Northzone, Alliance VC, and firstminute capital, will be used to further develop Tana’s AI-driven workspace, which integrates knowledge graphs, object-based note-taking, and customizable AI agents.
Tana aims to streamline knowledge work by transforming unstructured data into structured, actionable output through features like their “Supertax” tool. The company has already built a user base of over 160,000 people, including representation from Fortune 500 companies. Tana’s founders are focused on addressing the fragmentation of current productivity tools and improving efficiency in work environments by leveraging AI.
Founded in 2021 by Tarjei Vassbotn, Olav Kriken, and Grim Iversen, Tana focuses on developing an AI-driven workspace designed to improve knowledge management and productivity. Tana’s platform integrates a knowledge graph, object-based note-taking, and customizable AI agents to streamline the process of capturing, organizing, and utilizing information.
By transforming unstructured data into structured output, Tana aims to reduce the gap between thinking and doing in everyday work. The company is also working on features like Supertax, which converts raw notes and voice recordings into actionable, organized information.
With a growing user base that includes representation from Fortune 500 companies, Tana is working to address the fragmentation of existing productivity tools and offer a more efficient way for teams to collaborate and manage information.
“The computer was supposed to be the bicycle for the mind. Instead, we got a hamster wheel resulting in loads of work about work,” said Co-founder Tarjei Vassbotn. “With AI we can solve this, but only if we approach knowledge work in a fundamentally different way. Plugging AI into our current fragmented ecosystem of tools will create an even bigger mess.”
“This team’s obsession with transforming productivity for our AI-native world sets them apart. They deeply understand that the future of work will be dynamic and personalized, and their voice-first product represents a bold vision for reshaping how teams collaborate globally,” said Sheila Gulati, founder and managing director of Tola Capital.
“I’ve loved being an early adopter of Tana and I’m a believer in the team’s incredible vision to revolutionize knowledge work for high-speed organizations. They’ve built one of the most impressive AI agents I’ve ever seen and infused it into every part of the product,” said Nnamdi Iregbulem, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners.
“Tana is like having a superpower at work. The right information at the right time. It is also the best tool we currently have to prepare our organization for the inevitable: The increasing rate of change, the need for collaboration, and the information flow that comes with the advent of AI,” said Andre Foeken, CTO Nedap. “The age of personal effectiveness is here, and Tana is front and center.”
