Beresfords strengthens team with trio of strategic new hires
South East property group, Beresfords, has appointed three key professionals to bolster its team and enhance service offerings across its divisions.
Alexandra Jenkins joins as head of marketing and communications, leveraging seven years of specialised experience in property marketing. Her leadership will enhance Beresfords’ marketing strategies across all divisions.
Jenkins said: “I am passionate about driving Beresfords’ marketing efforts forward. With a focus on creativity and strategic vision, I am eager to strengthen our position as the estate agency of choice in Essex.”
Mitch Powell, appointed as land manager, brings eight years of expertise in land deals and development opportunities.
He commented: “Together with the team, I aim to expand our footprint and secure bigger site opportunities, establishing Beresfords as a leader in both property sales and land agency. There is a lot of potential for new development space specifically with the introduction of the new Grey Belt classification, and I look forward to the opportunities this can bring to the industry and our clients.”
Elliot Swallow, joining as the new homes assistant manager, brings more than six years of industry experience in client relationship management and development acquisition.
Elliot said: “I believe with my role bringing extra resource to the new homes team, there will be greater capability to identify New Homes opportunities and secure more developments, whilst ensuring high levels of engagement with our developers and vendors to ensure successful completion of instructed developments.”

Rob Swiney joins Jackson-Stops
Jackson-Stops in Suffolk has announced the expansion of its team with the addition of Rob Swiney.
Swiney, 42, is a chartered surveyor with more than 20 years of experience in the Suffolk property market.
He joins the Ipswich office and will specialise in the sale and valuation of country properties.
Swiney started his career at Jackson-Stops’ Bury office. For the last 10 years, he has headed up the estate agency department of Lacey Scott & Knight.
Jonathan Penn, director and co-founder of the Ipswich office, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rob back.
“He initially undertook work experience with us after leaving school and has since established himself as an enthusiastic and hard-working professional, gaining extensive experience and knowledge of the Suffolk property market.”
Emma Cariaga named as British Land COO
British Land has named Emma Cariaga its new chief operating officer (COO), succeeding David Walker, who became the group’s chief financial officer (CFO) in November 2024.
In her new role, Cariaga, previously joint head of Canada Water, will manage British Land’s property management, sustainability, digital placemaking, marketing and communications, and commercial finance functions. She will also continue to lead the residential business, including at Canada Water.
David Lockyer, who as head of development oversees all British Land’s development activity, is taking on additional responsibility for the delivery of the Canada Water project, working alongside Roger Madelin.
With the completion of the first phase buildings in 2025, the Canada Water development is becoming increasingly operational. Aligning Canada Water with the wider development pipeline provides further opportunities to leverage expertise from across the broader British Land platform.
Lockyer joined British Land in 2010 and became head of development in 2023. He was previously responsible for British Land’s campus assets, overseeing the transformation of Broadgate into the best-in-class office campus it is today.

Canada Water is a 53-acre development with a highly flexible planning permission. The development could deliver up to 4,000 homes across a variety of tenures – including affordable homes, market sale, build to rent, student accommodation and senior living – as well as up to two million sq ft of workspace, one million sq ft of retail, F&B, culture & leisure uses and 12 acres of open space.
