Chapter, an Amsterdam-based SaaS startup aiming to accelerate the energy transition, announces it has secured €3 million in funding to roll out the “world’s first” AI-powered operating system for knowledge in the sustainable energy industry.
The round was led by Rubio Impact Ventures and CapitalT.
Co-Founder and CEO André Haardt said: “This purpose-built AI solution marks a turning point in the energy sector. We’re not just launching a new service—we’re starting a revolution in how knowledge drives this industry. By addressing key challenges like scarce installer capacity, faster installations, and improved quality, it empowers manufacturers and installers to work smarter and scale more effectively. This revolution isn’t just about solving today’s problems; it’s about reshaping the sector for the future.”
Chapter was Co-founded in 2021 by André Haardt and Rutger Laman Trip, their technology looks to revolutionise workflows by providing manufacturers, installers, and service teams with instant, actionable knowledge. Their mission is to accelerate the energy transition by transforming how knowledge is shared and applied in the sustainable energy sector.
Initially focused on upskilling professionals in the green tech sector, Chapter has evolved into a provider of purpose-built AI solutions that optimise workflows and improve efficiency across the sustainable energy industry. From real-time troubleshooting and training, to automated support systems, Chapter AI transforms how knowledge is managed and utilised, enabling scalable, impactful solutions for a sustainable future
By reducing reliance on customer support, manuals, or colleagues, Chapter AI claims to save time and free up capacity to accelerate the energy transition. Several large European manufacturers are already involved in the beta program or have joined the waiting list.
CCO Rutger Laman Trip added: “Even though certain political voices are calling to slow down sustainability efforts, the bigger picture is clear: we need 18 million extra workers globally to secure the necessary energy transition. Digital training has proven to be an essential piece of this puzzle. Backed by Rubio and CapitalT, and supported by the significant interest from international manufacturers, we’re eager to scale further and help manufacturers—and the professionals who work with their products—achieve global CO₂ neutrality faster.”
Chapter argue that the sustainable energy sector faces critical hurdles, including declining productivity caused by the exponentially growing complexity of installation projects, increasing demand for faster and first time right installations, and the need for consistent, high-quality support.
Moreover, Chapter says that scarce capacity of installers for the necessary transition demands immediate action. Chapter AI addresses aims to address these challenges through:
- On-site installer support: Instant access to technical knowledge (e.g., heat pumps, EV chargers, solar systems) via mobile apps, minimising trial-and-error approaches.
- Automated helpdesks: Chatbots that handle up to 80% of installers as well as consumer queries, lowering the problem-solution time significantly and freeing support agents for complex issues.
- Seamless integrations: Chapter AI can be accessed through various user interfaces, such as websites, interactive voice response systems, and CRM platforms, ensuring seamless and efficient support across channels.
- Multilingual knowledge access: Knowledge content can be accessed in a language of choice.
- Centralised content management: All knowledge related documents and training materials become actionable, at point of need, taking into account the required prioritisation and user access rights.
Ilonka Jankovich, partner at Rubio, explains why they invested in Chapter: “We believe that the transition to a net-zero economy is as much about people as it is about energy. Companies like Chapter are essential to ensuring that no one is left behind in the shift to low-carbon, sustainable economies and societies. Together with our fellow impact investor CapitalT, we are committed to accelerating Chapter’s growth, helping to equip the climate tech workforce with the skills to work quickly, efficiently, and safely. Our goal is to be a driving force behind Europe’s green transition.”
Eva de Mol, Partner at CapitalT, adds: “We are excited to support Chapter in its mission to revolutionize the energy sector with AI. The ability to empower installers with real-time, autonomous solutions is a game-changer for the industry. As AI continues to transform sectors, Chapter is leading the way in using this technology to drive productivity, enhance installation quality, and expand installer capacity. This investment underscores our commitment to backing innovative companies that leverage AI to create lasting, positive impact.”
