Scottish data center firm DataVita is set to double its data center capacity to 40MW.
The company said it also has an extended goal of reaching 500MW in central Scotland over the next five years.
This will see the launch of data centers capable of supporting workloads with up to 400kW per rack – a large leap from traditional 4kW capacity.
The data center provider added that it is integrating renewable energy sources into its operations.
Already this year, DataVita has launched National Cloud, an offering that addresses the growing demand for cloud solutions. National Cloud will deliver tailored services for workloads unsuitable for public cloud providers, prioritizing data sovereignty, cost transparency, and simplified pricing models.
DataVita said its total sales reached £13.34 million ($16.2m) for the year ending June 30, 2024, a 46 percent increase from £9.12 million ($11.1m) in 2023. Gross margin improved by 62 percent, reaching £6.15 million ($7.5m).
“This has been a transformative year for DataVita. Our exceptional financial performance, coupled with our strategic pivot towards AI-ready infrastructure and bespoke cloud solutions, positions us at the forefront of the industry,” said Danny Quinn, managing director of DataVita.
“With the establishment of National Cloud and ongoing investments in sustainability and infrastructure – reinforcing our leadership in environmentally responsible data center operations – we are excited to continue enabling innovation for our customers and contributing to Scotland’s digital economy.”
DataVita is part of HFD Group, a Scottish commercial property and investment company.
The company has two data centers, DV1 and DV2, in Glasgow. It announced plans to expand its data center in Fortis in August 2022. Phase 1 of the expansion is now well underway, with plans to add approximately 10,000 GPUs in new high-density halls.
At the Fortis facility, the operator adopted hydrotreated vegetable oil as fuel for the backup generators in October 2023.
