British femtech startup Flo Health, a women’s health app, has announced a significant expansion of its operations in Lithuania by adding 130 new positions.
Following a €180 million Series C investment in July 2024, Flo has committed to scaling its presence by creating 130 new roles in its Vilnius location, strengthening its Lithuanian office as a critical hub for global operations. Resulting in a combined workforce of over 350 employees across its Lithuanian and UK offices.
Founded in 2015, Flo Health has grown into a leader in women’s health technology, boasting 70 million monthly active users and 380 million downloads worldwide. Already serving one in six women in the United States, the app offers comprehensive cycle and ovulation tracking features, all developed in collaboration with over 120 health experts. In addition, it has become the first female health app to achieve dual certification in both Privacy and Security ISO standards.
Flo’s Vilnius office, established in 2020, has become a central pillar of the company’s operations, housing senior leadership and playing host to key company-wide planning initiatives. Commenting on Lithuania’s appeal, Roman Bugaev, Chief Technology Officer at Flo Health, noted: “While Lithuania leads the EU with 64% of women in science and technology, we’re proud to tap into this rich and diverse talent pool, welcoming all qualified candidates, including male engineers. This wealth of experience, particularly in product development and software engineering, not only enhances our capabilities but also fosters innovation within our teams.”
“With over 900 startups and significant government backing, Lithuania’s startup ecosystem provides an environment ripe for collaboration and growth. We are confident that we can leverage this talent to drive our projects forward,” adds Roman Bugaev.
The expansion plans are expected to bolster Flo’s capabilities in engineering, product development, and marketing functions, cementing Lithuania’s role as a cornerstone of the company’s strategy. Elijus Čivilis, General Manager at Invest Lithuania, celebrated the decision, stating: “In Lithuania, Flo Health found the right conditions to develop a product with a global impact. The company’s growth in Lithuania demonstrates our country’s potential to be a global tech innovation hub, where innovators like Flo Health can transform ideas into world-leading solutions.”
The recent funding round, which propelled Flo Health to unicorn status with a valuation of around €946 million, will support its next phase of growth. This includes advancing personalised, tech-driven healthcare solutions and enhancing its global reach.
In addition to its operational advancements, Flo Health’s Chief Financial Officer, Tamara Orlova, is set to speak at the EU-Startups Summit 2025. The event, a highlight in the European startup calendar, will provide an opportunity to hear directly from one of the key figures driving Flo’s success. The summit will take place in April 2025 and is expected to attract prominent figures from the tech and startup ecosystem across Europe.
