Tewke, a climate tech startup focused on energy optimisation and home automation, has raised €3.1 million in a seed funding round.
In this round, Tewke attracted interest from UK and international investors as well as backing from the UK Net Zero Pre-Commercialisation Support Fund and the Housing Digital Innovation Award.
Founded in 2020 by Piers Daniell, the London-based company will use the funds to accelerate the development of its domestic energy control platform and its flagship product, Tap, an intelligent light switch designed to reduce energy waste in homes, as well as enhance its neuro-symbolic AI systems and grow its software team.
Tap is set to debut at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The touchscreen light switch requires no neutral wires or smart bulbs, allowing for easy installation in homes across Europe, the US, and the UK. Positioned as a cost-effective and accessible solution for smart energy control, Tap aims to tackle energy waste.
Piers Daniell, Founder of Tewke said, “Over the last 20 years there has been a shift in attitude towards technology and awareness of energy consumption […] There have been small movements towards adopting more energy efficient systems, and smart-home technologies, but there has always been a lack of a fully integrated system that can autonomously automate energy savings, and Tewke is changing that. Often energy savings are associated with some kind of compromise, but at Tewke we are building a platform that will elevate people’s homes, making them more environmentally friendly, intuitive and secure.”
The company plans to scale its technology, optimise energy savings, and contribute to the development of a true smart grid, aiming to address the 60% of residential energy often wasted in homes, as per research carried out by Tewke.
