Based in Paris, the hiring marketplace Candix has just raised €185k from top operators like Thibaud Elziere, Paul Vidal, Sofiane Bouhali, Sophie Riottot, with the aim of testing the US market after a successful launch in France.
The current AI gold rush is instilling a secret desire in many big tech engineers to ditch the golden handcuffs of their above-market salaries and gain more ownership and stakes by joining earlier ventures. Unfortunately, it’s a desire they can’t broadcast publicly, as it might jeopardize their current roles. However, they feel at ease sharing it on Candix, where their data is guaranteed to remain private, away from the eyes of their current bosses.
On Candix, talent indicates what they might be open to, and companies take the first steps. Confidentiality is ensured through several measures: having companies sign an NDA for access to the pool, enforcing a single point of access per company, and intensively monitoring activity on the app. There is also an emphasis on educating recruiters about how to handle sensitive data, which the recruiting industry isn’t particularly adept at compared to the health industry.
“Hiring marketplaces have historically been hard to scale. In fact, there isn’t a single example of one that has succeeded. The most notable ones, such as Hired, grew significantly before shutting down. By not making confidentiality their absolute focus, these platforms attracted only talent who were comfortable having their data exposed, missing out on a wealth of great, employed talent who weren’t. As a result, they couldn’t effectively compete with agencies or in-house talent acquisition teams that tapped into this pool,” noted Theo Avoyne, Founder of Candix, who accumulates 8 years of experience in this industry.
“Theo’s strength with Candix is automating a large part of the curation process, which is usually the bottleneck in hiring marketplaces. This is game-changing and will allow it to grow in verticals and locations when no other tool could,” said Paul Vidal, angel investor.
Candix intends to keep surfing the AI wave, helping hungry startups overtake established leaders and enabling the smartest talent to embark on new beginnings.
