Starhive, a no-code app builder that enables businesses to create bespoke applications in a matter of hours, has raised €2.7 million in seed funding. The round was led by Nordic venture capital firm node.vc, with node Partners Andy Johnston & Henrik Tellving also joining the board.
Founded in 2022, Starhive is now the leading platform for businesses looking to quickly create sophisticated custom applications tailored to their specific needs, without requiring extensive coding knowledge or needing to hire a team of expensive developers.
The investment will be used to drive international expansion, bolstering the company’s capacity to scale its operations and continue developing its platform to serve key target demographics, including organizations within the enterprise service management, asset management, and project management spaces.
Starhive’s co-founders Tommy Nordahl and Mathias Edblom bring 40+ years of combined industry experience, having also co-founded Mindville in 2012, an IT asset and configuration management company that was acquired by Atlassian (www.atlassian.com) in 2020. Starhive’s current team of 23 includes 11 former employees from Mindville.
Tommy Nordahl, Starhive’s Co-Founder and CEO, said: “Organizations of all sizes have workflows that are often handled inefficiently through manual processes or costly, off-the-shelf software that doesn’t quite fit their needs. We have produced a unified solution that offers the best of both worlds, combining the ease of ready-made software with the flexibility of a custom-built solution. This investment will enable us to grow and develop our offering, bringing it to new markets around the world, and getting it into the hands of the people and businesses who need it most.”
“This funding allows us to propel both the company and our products further than ever before,” added Mathias Edblom, Starhive Co-Founder and CPO. “We believe that technology should adapt to the needs of the business, not the other way around. Starhive empowers teams to build exactly what they need, when they need it, without being constrained by generic software or the complexities of custom coding. It’s about giving organizations the freedom to innovate and streamline their operations in a way that truly fits their unique workflows.”
The global demand for no-code and low-code solutions is on the rise, driven by the desire from business leaders to use custom software, budget cutbacks, and an international shortage of developers. According to Gartner, the low-code/no-code market will grow by 24% in 2024 to $12 billion, underscoring the significant potential for Starhive’s offering.
Starhive users can create apps that meet their precise, unique needs. This could include anything from creating an onboarding app for new employees, a management system for e-commerce, to building a collaborative marketing space for shared projects. By building applications with Starhive’s unique data platform, users can take advantage of the company’s innovative and robust database that offers true data freedom, especially when combined with additional building blocks like the automation engine and workflow builder. Businesses using Starhive eliminate manual processes, reduce spending on multiple SaaS tools, and avoid the need to maintain custom-coded software.
Andy Johnston, Partner at node.vc, commented: “We at node are thrilled to be joining Starhive at this pivotal stage in the company’s journey. Starhive’s powerful data management capabilities combined with its no-code app development approach is a game-changer for businesses seeking to optimize their operations and Starhive’s founding team has the ambition and driving force to take the company to great heights.”
