Linn-Cecilie Linnemann joins LUMO Labs as a Senior Partner to lead the fund’s operations in the Nordics and the Baltics, drawing on over 20 years of experience in business strategy, investment, and climate-driven initiatives. She views the region as ripe with potential, given its strong tech expertise, deep tech environments, and industrial capabilities, particularly in the energy sector. Linnemann sees this as a strategic step for LUMO Labs, which has long been exploring opportunities in the region, and she is eager to support innovative startups focused on societal and environmental challenges through disruptive technologies.

Linn-Cecilie Linnemann has built a diverse career over two decades, marked by her work as an entrepreneur, investor, and advocate for social impact. She previously served as CEO of Katapult Group, where she played a key role in directing investments into startups focused on climate innovation. Linnemann also co-founded the SHE Conference, a prominent platform promoting gender equality in Europe.

Her experience includes founding a communication agency, which she later exited, and serving on the boards of companies in sectors like climate and education technology. Throughout her career, Linnemann has consistently focused on initiatives that aim to address larger societal challenges, leveraging her expertise in both business strategy and investment.

Linn-Cecilie Linnemann says: “What I appreciate most about our team at LUMO is the commitment and determination to actually get things done, think big and have an impact. We all have in-depth knowledge of the markets and ecosystems in which we operate. Over the past few years, as CEO of Katapult and in other capacities, I have met numerous founders and worked closely with many of them. Good funding and support are and will always be indispensable. “

LUMO Labs is a Dutch-based fund manager focused on investing in early-stage startups that use disruptive technologies to address societal and environmental challenges. With a particular emphasis on digital technologies such as AI, IoT, and AR/VR, LUMO Labs supports companies that aim to create meaningful impact across sectors like healthcare, sustainability, and urban innovation.

The firm manages a €100 million investment fund, targeting startups across Europe, including the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Scandinavia, and the Baltics. Known for its hands-on approach, LUMO Labs not only provides capital but also actively participates in portfolio management and strategic development to foster growth and innovation. Alongside Linnemann, the firm has also brought on Jorge Blasco as its new partner for Spain, leveraging his extensive venture capital experience and deep knowledge of the region’s emerging technology sector.

“By expanding our team with Linn-Cecilie and Jorge, we are able to consolidate our presence in Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia and the Baltic States,” said Andy Lürling, co-founder of LUMO Labs. It has always been important for Sven and for me as investors to be well-informed about developments beyond our national borders. This enables us and the rest of the team to recognize trends and select the most progressive startups.”

Linn-Cecilie Linnemann’s move to LUMO Labs as a Senior Partner signals the fund’s deepening focus on the Nordics and the Baltics. With her background in business strategy and climate-related investment, she brings valuable experience in identifying and nurturing early-stage startups. Linnemann’s previous role as CEO of Katapult Group, where she led investments into climate-focused ventures, suggests she will likely emphasize sustainability and innovation in her new role. In joining LUMO, she aims to tap into the region’s strong tech talent and industrial knowledge, helping the fund expand its presence and impact in these key markets.

With Linnemann as the new partner at Lumo, the fund is establishing itself in the Nordics and the Baltics. Linnemann shares that Lumo has been looking into the opportunities to expand more in the Nordics and the Baltics since 2020—although they have not had the mandate to invest in the area until now.

“As I see it, there are significant advantages here, including the fact that we have very high tech expertise. In addition, there are very strong deep tech environments and research institutions in several of the countries. There is also a lot of industrial expertise, particularly in the energy sector,” she emphasizes.”

LUMO Labs is investing in seed stage companies working to solve Societal or environmental challenges with the use of disruptive technologies as i.g AI, IoT and AR/VR.
