There were 127 venture capital rounds announced in the first half of 2024 by startups or scaleups with an Italian origin, that is, founded by Italians, although not necessarily based in Italy, for a total of just under EUR940 million, distributed almost equally between the first and second quarters (about EUR499 million in Q1 and EUR440 million in Q2).
This is a figure that, if repeated in the second half of the year as well, would lead to a recovery in volumes compared to 2023 (see here BeBeez’s Venture Capital 2023 Report), when investments of EUR1.536 billion were mapped, although instead the number of rounds seems to have shrunk: last year, in fact, 327 rounds were counted, so a number well over double the one in the first six months of 2024.
