The Eindhoven City Council, announced on Tuesday, June 11, that it has officially adopted the zoning plan for the second cluster of Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven.
This decision marks the start of the further expansion of this innovative campus, which plays a key role in the development of the high-quality manufacturing industry in the Brainport region.
The zoning plan came about after a successful and intensive cooperation process between SDK Vastgoed (on behalf of VOF BIC) as the risk-bearing developing party, the municipality of Eindhoven, and various partners.
During this period, there was intensive communication and cooperation with all stakeholders, including interest groups, residents, and other stakeholders from the surrounding area.
“We are particularly proud of the continuation of the success of the first cluster, in which technology and innovation are integrated with qualitative greenery and nature,” says Ferdinand Gremmen of SDK Real Estate.
“The effort to preserve and enhance nature contributes to the goal of creating a healthy working environment for everyone. A clean, biodiverse, and climate-adaptive environment that promotes a healthy lifestyle and enables and encourages social interaction. This integrated approach provides the basis for a sustainable and healthy work environment,” adds Gremmen.
Campus for the high-quality manufacturing industry
Notably, BIC serves as a hub for the high-quality manufacturing industry, bringing together top technology, education, government, and high-quality facilities.
The campus aims to increase efficiency in production processes and foster cooperation within the ecosystem. Additionally, the presence of educational institutions is expected to attract new talent, promoting lifelong learning and supporting startups and scale-ups in their development.
The approval and realisation of BIC Cluster 2 will further advance the business climate of Brainport Eindhoven in the coming years, solidifying the success of BIC Cluster 1.
ASML expansion on cards to accommodate 20K jobs
In other news, The Eindhoven City Council has approved the possible expansion of ASML on the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC).
Over the next few months, studies will be conducted, and the urban design and cooperation agreement will be further developed. These efforts are expected to be finalised by the end of the year.
In April, the municipality and ASML partnered to investigate the suitability of the northern part of the campus for a large-scale expansion of the company.
This area, covering about 100 hectares, has the potential to accommodate approximately 20,000 ASML jobs.
The municipality of Eindhoven and ASML, in collaboration with partners, are working on proposals to address various social issues.
It includes programs related to housing, accessibility, talent, and the social program “Brainport for Each Other.”
In the further development of the plans at BIC North, attention is also being paid to jobs for the practically educated and unused labour potential in the area.
