Oslo-based 3D creation technology provider Sloyd has secured €3 million in seed funding, with participation from global investors SPEEDRUN, a16z GAMES’ gaming accelerator, Antler, Skyfall Ventures, FreshFund, AceCap, Hartmann Capital, and several high-profile angel investors. The round also included a strategic investment from Autodesk. Founded in 2021, Sloyd enables rapid design, customization, and implementation of 3D assets using AI, catering to game developers, TV/movie production, and architectural visualization. The funding will enhance their AI-driven platform, speeding up creation time and expanding their user base of over 250,000 signups.
Sloyd focuses on simplifying 3D creation for developers. With a background in game design and 3D modeling, co-founder Øyvind Sørøy developed a procedural generation algorithm to expedite asset creation. Teaming up with Machine Learning expert Avi Latner and management consultant Andreas Edesberg, Sloyd aims to support creators by providing easy-to-use tools that allow them to focus on the creative aspects of their projects. Their platform leverages AI and procedural generation to make 3D asset creation more accessible and efficient for game developers and other professionals.
Andreas Edesberg, co-founder of Sloyd, says to EU-Startups.com, “We are honored to be recognized by the foremost authority in 3D software and creative technologies. The backing of globally respected VC firms and global technology leaders such as Autodesk is invaluable as we endeavor to develop AI solutions tailored to the needs of professionals in 3D, enhancing their workflows.”
Kristian Jul Røsjø, Partner at Antler, states, “Sloyd is harnessing AI to transform 3D creation for creators around the world. This is a fast growth industry that is attracting significant levels of investment and innovation. Sloyd have firmly positioned themselves as pioneers in this space and the investment is testament to their ambition and potential.
