Amsterdam-based Source.ag, an agtech startup that assists greenhouse farmers with AI, announced on Tuesday that it is expanding to North America and has appointed a General Manager to lead their North American team.
The announcement comes around a year after raising €3.73M in its Series A extension round of funding, in June last year.
Source.ag will be partnering with leading growers in North America to accelerate their growth.
To establish a strong local presence, the Dutch company is set to open an office in Chicago this August.
Tomas Geurts, the current head of the Customer Success team at Source.ag, will lead the company’s North American team.
As one of Source.ag’s first employees, Geurts has been instrumental in driving the company’s rapid growth over the past three years.
Rien Kamman, CEO and co-founder of Source, says, “We are thrilled to expand our business to North America and forge direct partnerships with the innovative growers in Canada, the US, and Mexico. Our goal is to support these growers in operating their farms more efficiently and sustainably. With the North American greenhouse horticulture market projected to grow by nearly 10% over the next five years, this region presents significant opportunities for our company to make a positive impact and contribute to the industry’s growth and success.”
The Dutch company’s solutions have been rolled out across the largest global fresh vegetable segments—tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers—with the eventual aim of improving operations for all fruit and vegetable growers.
After the successful commercial launch and implementation of its first product, Source Track, a platform to track, compare, and improve cultivation, the company recently launched its newest product to growers worldwide.
Source Irrigation Control helps growers scale operations and improve irrigation management while decreasing the need for manual intervention and the time to adapt to new seed varieties or locations.
Source.ag’s current clients include Agro Care, Thanet Earth, Le Jardin de Rabelais, and C. Zwinkels, and the company will be partnering with growers across North America pioneering its AI technology to track and improve cultivations.
Globally, more than 280 commercial greenhouses covering over 4400 acres benefit from Source.ag’s revolutionary solutions.

Lucas Mann, Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Acre Venture Partners says, ‘’Source.ag’s groundbreaking AI technology has demonstrated its potential to revolutionize protected agriculture, empowering growers worldwide to increase vegetable yields and adopt climate resilient practices. With the rising popularity of greenhouse farming in North America, Source.ag’s timely expansion into the region is poised to make a significant impact and I am excited to see the rapid adoption by North American growers.’’
