Clevergy, a Spanish home energy management software deployed through energy retailers and installers, has successfully closed a funding round of €1.5 million led by Zubi, founded and chaired by Iker Marcaide, with additional investments from Earth, a new climate-tech fund founded by Maex Ament and Philip Stehlik, Finaves, Fredrik Wikstrom, and other climate-tech sector business angels. Additionally, Adrian Tuck, Founder of Uplight, a leading American energy management software company, joins as an Advisor.
Clevergy, a climate-tech firm, closed its initial pre-seed round in 2022 with Flash Ventures, securing €500k to develop a product enabling energy retailers and installers to centralize home energy management. With this latest round, Clevergy aims to invest in technology to enhance its product, including expanding compatibility with smart devices, integrating advanced AI-based energy-saving models, and enabling community energy management.
Iker Marcaide, from Zubi, said: “The decision to invest in Clevergy aligns with the strategic interests of the company. This investment underscores our commitment to innovation and sustainability, and is fully aligned with the goals and developments of our current initiatives. Clevergy is at the forefront of the home energy transition, an area we deem critical for the future. We are delighted to support and be part of this significant shift in the industry.”
Beltrán Aznar, CEO and co-founder of Clevergy, commented: “Households will play a crucial role in the energy transition, evolving from mere consumers to active network participants, generating their own energy and balancing demand. Clevergy supports energy retailers and renewable energy companies with its technology, offering the best energy experience to their customers via apps or web platforms.”
Founded in 2021, Clevergy addresses the challenge of ineffective connectivity between homes, the grid, and equipment manufacturers (such as batteries, electric cars, heat pumps, solar, etc.). Currently, users have a limited experience due to different apps for each device. Energy companies face limitations in centralizing and optimizing operations and offering a unified energy management service under their brand. Clevergy emerges as pioneers in the future energy transition, connecting homes with retailer services and smart devices on a unified platform.
The company will maintain its brand, recognizing the importance for consumers to identify energy management with a specific brand. Clevergy offers various white-label integration methods tailored to each company’s needs, whether incorporating modules to enhance existing applications or creating applications from scratch, always preserving the company’s personality.
Numerous energy retailers and renewable energy firms, including Naturgy, Doctor Energy, and Lidera Energía, trust Clevergy’s technology to enhance their customers’ energy efficiency. Clevergy now extends its offerings with a web portal solution, allowing these companies to centralize and optimize operations while exploring new opportunities for products and services for their customers.
