Berlin-based autarc, a developer of heat pump OS (operating system) for HVAC installers, announced on Monday that it has secured ‘single-digit million’ funding in a pre-seed round of funding.
The funding round was backed by PT1 – PropTech1 Ventures, along with the participation of several business angels such as
- C1 founder Christian Vollmann
- Lieferando founder Kai Hansen
- GridX founders — David Balensiefen and Andreas Booke,
- realxdata founder Titus Albrecht
- zenhomes founder Jannes Fischer
- Reachbird founder Philipp Martin
The German company plans to use the capital to fund its planning software to accelerate the decarbonisation of the building sector, install one million heat pumps by 2030, and expand its team and reach in Europe.
Heating systems in Europe are currently facing a twofold challenge — Firstly, they constitute a significant source of CO2 emissions and secondly, there is a lack of sufficiently qualified engineers to change this situation in the foreseeable future.
This is where autarc comes into play!
“Our vision is ambitious, but clearly defined: We want to use our software to plan over one million systems by 2030 and thus become a key player in accelerated decarbonisation. We are convinced that this path will not only significantly reduce environmental pollution, but also raise energy efficiency to a new level,” explains Etienne-Noel Krause, co-founder and CEO of autarc.
autarc: Accelerating the transition to low-carbon home
Founded by Etienne-Noel Krause and Thies Hansen, autarc aims to simplify the transition from traditional oil and gas heating to modern heat pumps, promoting sustainable energy and supporting new businesses.
The company does this by developing an operating system (OS) for heating contractors to accelerate the transition to fossil-free heating in Europe.
The company’s solution offers user-guided software to support both new and old heating contractors in the transition to heat pumps. It simplifies the planning process and the installation of heat pumps and enables time savings of up to 50 per cent.
autarc offers users further simplifications through artificial intelligence and LiDAR scan technology in addition to heat load, hydraulic balancing, and dimensioning.
The investor
PT1 – PropTech1 Ventures invests in and supports innovative entrepreneurs from across Europe who tackle the mega challenges of our time created by the increasing scarcity of natural resources, affordable living space, and skilled labour.
“Europe’s heat supply will be completely decarbonised over the next two decades. Optimising installation companies is an extremely important driver for the rapid and large-scale conversion to sustainable systems. The team has already generated impressive traction, and we look forward to working with them to tackle this profoundly important challenge of the energy transition,” says Fabian Koenig, Investment Manager of lead investor PT1 – PropTech1 Ventures.
