What’s on the horizon for the travel industry? The landscape has shifted significantly, with a strong resurgence in travel intentions and spending from 2021 onwards. In this changing ecosystem, many people are traveling just as much as they did prior to the pandemic. Behavior has also shifted towards personalized experiences, heightened security, sustainable practices, and longer stays. According to Trip.com, the average round-trip booking increased from 9 days in 2019 to nearly two weeks in 2022.
During August, the EU-Startups team has been conducting intensive research to identify the “50 most promising Travel startups in Europe”, all of which were founded between 2020 and 2023. After evaluating around 1,500 candidates, we have compiled our findings in a premium report, now available for purchase/download for just €95 (£82).

Founded in 2021 with a total funding of over €4.7 million, EasyTip offers a dependable, transparent, and cashless avenue for customers to tip service employees directly from their mobile devices, ensuring that their gratitude reaches the staff members who provided them with exceptional service.
Destinus: Based in Payerne, Switzerland, Destinus is a pioneering company at the forefront of aeronautic, propulsion, and cryogenic hydrogen technologies, with a focus on developing hypersonic hydrogen passenger aircraft. Their hypersonic airplanes reduce the time for intercontinental transport by an order of magnitude while also reducing carbon emissions if compared to traditional air transport. Founded in 2021, they have been able to secure over €53 million aiming to open new and more sustainable flight paths for passenger and cargo transportation anywhere on Earth.
GreenGo: Located in Paris, GreenGo is dedicated to facilitating eco-conscious travellers in booking environmentally friendly transportation and accommodation options. This innovative platform stands out as a fair and responsible alternative to conventional accommodation booking websites. Founded in 2020 with a total funding amount of over €1 million, GreenGo caters to environmentally concerned individuals enabling them to experience authentic and occasionally unconventional lodgings while staying true to their values.
Beder: This Barcelona-based startup bridges the worlds of Tripadvisor and TikTok, introducing an innovative social and video-driven travel application. Beder is a platform dedicated to making the entire travel experience not just efficient but also highly engaging. Founded in 2020, what sets Beder apart is its captivating short video content, created and shared by fellow travellers. These videos serve as immersive travel guides, offering insights and recommendations that go beyond traditional text-based reviews.
Taykon: Headquartered in Milan, Takyon enables individuals to convert their hotel reservations into resellable digital assets (NFTs) – a breakthrough in the travel industry. Founded in 2022, Taykon introduced the concept of the “Resellable Rate,” which can be booked directly through the hotel’s website and subsequently resold on its platform. This innovation marks the inception of the world’s first-ever travel marketplace and revolutionizes the way hotel reservations are managed and traded.
