Climate tech firm Revalue Nature has completed a $10M (€9.1M) Series A funding round to support its ambition of building a global pipeline for next-generation carbon projects, the company announced on July 27, 2023.
“This growth financing accelerates our journey to supercharge the world’s leading nature-based developers, reset the bar for quality in the carbon market, and protect and regenerate nature at a scale that makes our eyes water,” says Stuart Rowland, founder and CEO of Revalue.
According to the company, it plans to grow partnerships and a global pipeline of next-generation projects, with this new capital. It’s also looking to expand the capabilities of its climate tech tools and platform.
Two US-based venture capitalists, Ecosystem Integrity Fund (EIF) and SJF Ventures, co-led the fundraising effort.
EIF managing partner James Everett said Revalue is a company that focuses on “bringing integrity” to the carbon market. Everett asserted Revalue’s capability to address the market’s problems and realise its potential because of its forest science expertise, process management excellence, and strong values. He concluded that EIF is “delighted” to be involved in Revalue’s future.
SJF Ventures managing director Alan Kelley also said his company is “thrilled” to join Revalue’s effort in addressing climate change at scale. He commended the London-based firm’s commitment to strong scientific rigour and building long-lasting organisational partnerships.
Streamlining global carbon projects
Founded last year, Revalue provides end-to-end solutions for carbon project developers around the world so they can streamline their operations. It aims to foster high-quality carbon projects that can benefit society, and its service currently spans over eight countries in three continents.
Revalue assists developers in ensuring their projects take off by decoding the development process. It abandons the standard approach by incorporating machine learning and its ingenious methods to make carbon projects worldwide more efficient.
The company boasts its TERRA platform, a proprietary solution that provides spatial intelligence to users. The company claims its platform uses the latest and most precise satellite data, including Optical, LiDar-based, and Radar (SAR) satellite datasets.
The integrated platform contains tools that prevent bottlenecks in carbon projects — Land Scanner, ATLAS Maps+, Swift Land Classifier, and Impact Index. Combining earth observation from space with the evolving reality from the ground provides rich insights for project development.
The novel approach allows developers to conduct the first assessments in a matter of minutes instead of months., says the company. As the project progresses, Revalue’s technology will perform all-around monitoring and offer early warnings about potential risks. The technology also provides accurate analysis for third-party diligence, simplifying the auditing process.
