Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised climate-tech Sweetch Energy, a renewable energy player specializing in osmotic energy, on the creation of a joint venture with its industrial partner and shareholder CNR (Compagnie Nationale du Rhône) to structure a new industrial sector for osmotic energy in France.
The creation of the joint venture is aimed at accelerating the deployment of Sweetch Energy’s INOD® technology, which for the first time enables industrial-scale production of electricity from osmotic energy, which is generated naturally by the difference in salinity between fresh river water and seawater when they meet.
CNR is the leading producer in France of 100 percent renewable electricity, and also the Rhône River concessionaire.
The White & Case team in Paris which advised Sweetch Energy was led by partners François-Guilhem Vaissier and Franck De Vita and included partner Clara Hainsdorf and associate Valentin Morichon.
