investindustrial (1)Investindustrial, the private equity group founded by Andrea C. Bonomi, raised the record amount of 3.75 billion euros for Investindustrial VII, its seventh fund, so well above the 3 billions target mentioned last February (see here a previous article by BeBeez). For Investindustrial it is the largest fund ever. The previous fund, Investindustrial VI, had instead raised 2 billion euro closing in February 2016, but versus a 6 billion euros demand (see here a previous article by BeBeez).  Money by the Bonomi family is still invested in the funds managed by Investindustrial: on average they represent 10% of the assets of each instrument.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore, the subscribers of the seventh fund are mainly European (51%) and American (for 40%) but Italian shareholders are also included in the group for the first time; the remainder is held by Asian / Middle Eastern investors. 36% is represented by pension funds and sovereign funds, 35% by insurance companies, 15% by foundations, while in the remaining 14% there are mainly funds of funds.

The new fund, like the previous one, will have a pan-European investment perspective, with particular attention to Italy and Spain. In the portfolio of the sixth fund as Italian companies there are still participations in Artsana, Medical Technology and Devices, International Design Group, Ceme, Lifebrain and Italcanditi (which last September acquired the majority of Prodotti Rubicone).

The Investindustrial V fund, instead, had raised 1.25 billion euros in 2012 and in turn is still invested in a number of companies. Before that, in 2009, a topup was announced for 100 million of the third fund, which instead had raised 500 million in 2005. The fourth fund had announced the closing in 2008 for a billion euros. The second fund had instead collected subscriptions for 323 million in 2000.

In the meantime Investindustrial in May 2018 collected the Investindustrial Growth Fund, dedicated to investments in the low end of the European mid market segment, with a closing of 375 million euros(see here a previous article by BeBeez). The fund already has a series of investments, of which two in Italy: 70% of Dispensa Emilia and 70% of Farmaceutici Procemsa.

Including Andrea C. Bonomi (managing principal) and its partners (partners are his brother Carlo Umberto, Dante Razzano, Carl Nauckhoff, Salvatore Catapano, Mateo Paniker, Roberto Maestroni, Joaquin Guell and Maurizio Bottinelli), Investindustrial has over 80 professionals distributed in the offices of Lugano, Barcelona, London, Luxembourg, New York and Shanghai.

Investindustrial is one of the investors mapped by BeBeez Private Data
