Charme Capital Partners sgr, the Italian management company led by Matteo di Montezemolo, is ready to invest its last private equity fund Charme III in United Kingdom and Spain as long as in Italy, the private equity company announced yesterday (download here the press release).
Julian Huxtable, Christopher Fielding and Francisco Churtichaga, former partners at private equity firm Doughty Hanson, were hired by Charme Capital Partners (London-based Doughty Hanson dropped attempts to raise its sixth fund last April and has been selling assets since then).
The new team will be based in London and has been investing for years all over Europe and US in companies such as Vue Entertainment, Quiron/USP Hospitales and Tumi.
After the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will have given its go ahead, the newborn Charme Capital Partners advisory firm will join Charme Capital Partners sgr in managing Charme III fund,
Charme III announced a first closing in its fundraising at 400 million euros last January (see here a previous post by BeBeez) and has now reached 450 millions raised, the final closing being expected by next June 2016 at 500 million euros.
Led by Matteo di Montezemolo, Charme III’s investment committee is composed by Luigi Sala, Tommaso Beolchini, Simone Cavalieri and Matteo Facoetti and will be enlarged to Julian Huxtable, Christopher Fielding and Francisco Churtichaga, with Mr. Huxtable in charge for the UK market and Mr. Churtichaga in charge of the Spanish market.
Charme I fund had raised 186 million euros in 2003 and gained 2.1x the invested capital. Charme II raised 340 million in 2009 and gained 2.4x the invested capital. Finally Charme III fund which was launched at the beginning of this year will be the first one by Charme Capital Partners sgr to invest on a pan-european basis.
