US travel platform Nasdaq-listed TripAdvisor acquired two Italian startups operating web platforms to book rstaurants online: the Milan-based Restopolis and the Turin-based MyTable.
The amount of the transaction are not known and both the companies have been integrated with TheFork, TripAdvisor’s restaurant platform active in France, Spain, Switzerland and now Italy.
Founded in 2010 by Mattia Carluccio and Riccardo Reinerio and backed by seed capital from Stefano Papini (an entrepreneur managing La Compagnia della Birra and BeFed franchising and chairman of Confesercenti Torino, which is the association of retailers in Turin), MyTable is an online restaurants booking platform wth more than 3,500 restaurants managing reservations.
Founded in 2011 by Almir Ambeskovic (now vicepresident of young entrepreneurs of Assolombarda, the Milan entrepreneurs association), Restopolis was backed last February by business angels Andrea Casalini and Mauro Del Rio (former ceo and founder of Buongiorno), Euan Lonmon (former ceo of the Italian branch of Corsica Ferries) and Giuseppe Maurizio (former ceo of Greci Industria Alimentare). Ambeskovic has become country manager ot TheFork Italia.
