Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners announced pn September 9 the closing of the fundraising of its third fund with 300 million euros raised, that is more than the the 250 millions initial target (download here the press release). The new fund, Winch Capital 3, is then bigger than the previous Winch Capital II that in 2009 raised 250 million euros.
In Italy Winch Capital 2 investedin Fila-Fabbrica Italiana Lapis e Affini (the fund sold its stake to Italian private equity operator Vei one year ago, download here the press release) and in United Coatings (together with Fondo Italiano di Investimento, who invested both directly and indirectly thorough Winch Italia, download here the press release).
In Italy Winch Capital funds actually invest through Winch Italia, an investment vehicle founded in 2011 together with Fondo Italiano (download here the press release). In Wich Italia was invested capital from Wich Capital 2 and will be invested capital from Winch capital III. Advisor to WInch Capital funds for investments in Italy is Master Capital Partners srl, founded in 2010 by Massimo Massari and Luca Ravano,
The EdR team succeeded in attracting new institutional investors of note for the new fund like the European Investment Fund (EIF) and
Sogecap (SocGen). Ten institutional investors including the Edmond de Rothschild Group invested more than 15 million euros each.
These included historic investors such as Bpifrance, BnpParibas, Carif Assurances and Cnp Assurances who decided to allocate significant amounts to the Winch Capital 3 investment team. The fund also saw strong interest from individual investors and family offices, representing close to 10% of the fund.
